Cunetio 2515. Elmer 648 ('Cologne'). RIC V.4 500. Rare and unusually complete. Struck from slightly worn dies and with 'R' written in ink on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.


This rare first issue of Victorinus stands out for its long obverse legend, which displays the full name of the new emperor. Struck immediately after Victorinus assumed power following the assassination of Marius, it was replaced within weeks by new issues featuring a shortened name.
